The Oxford-Liikesivistysrahasto Visiting Scholars Programme offers outstanding doctoral researchers from Finnish universities the opportunity to spend two academic terms starting in spring 2027 at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, as part of their doctoral studies. Designed for high-potential researchers in business, management, finance, entrepreneurship, leadership, and related disciplines, the programme provides a unique opportunity to accelerate doctoral research within one of the world’s leading academic environments.

Visiting Scholars will join Oxford’s international research community as Recognised Students, receiving access to Oxford’s libraries, seminars, workshops, faculty expertise, and wider collegiate and academic life. Scholars will benefit from enhanced academic supervision, opportunities to present and develop their research, and engagement with leading researchers across Oxford’s inter-disciplinary academic community.

The programme is intended for doctoral students in the second or third year of their doctoral studies whose research demonstrates strong academic excellence and relevance to the future competitiveness, innovation capacity, and economic development of Finland.

Priority will be given to applicants with a strong connection to Finland and the potential to apply the knowledge and perspectives gained at Oxford to the advancement of Finnish research and education in business economics, and / or the wider business community.

The application portal for spring 2027 will open at lsr.fi on 3 August 2026. Applications are
due by 4:00 pm Finnish time (UTC+3) on 4 September 2026.

Application requirements

Please submit the application form, a CV, a research plan, and a two-page expression of interest outlining the proposed research focus, enabling Oxford to identify suitable academic supervisors from across Saïd Business School. A letter of support from the doctoral supervisor is required and must be submitted directly by the supervisor through the application system.

Selection results

Scholarship offers will be issued to successful applicants in October 2026.

Grant period and funding

The Visiting Scholars Programme consists of the following two academic terms:

  • Hilary Term (Spring): 17 January – 13 March 2027
  • Trinity Term (Summer): 25 April – 19 June 2027

The scholarship amount is £26,722 and is awarded for two academic terms. The award covers tuition and academic charges, including enhanced supervision and structured academic engagement, together with a contribution toward living costs during the period of residence in Oxford, including accommodation, subsistence, study costs and a personal allowance.
