The Foundation for Economic Education (Liikesivistysrahasto) uses cookies and similar technologies on its website. They help us keep the website working, protect our forms against misuse, develop the website and target our communications and marketing.
A cookie is a small text file that is stored in your browser or device when you use a website. Similar technologies include, for example, the browser’s local storage and tracking code embedded in a page, through which information is passed to a service provider.
You can change your cookie choices or withdraw your consent at any time from the cookie icon in the corner of the page, the Cookie settings link at the bottom of the website or the button at the end of this page.
How we use cookies
We use necessary cookies to keep the website working and secure. They do not require your consent.
We only use functional, analytics and marketing cookies with your consent. You can accept or reject each cookie category separately. The services in these categories (the tawk.to chat, Google Analytics and Meta Pixel) are only loaded on the page once you have consented to the category in question. Until you make your choice, the website only uses necessary cookies.
Withdrawing your consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
Cookie categories and the cookies we use
Below, by category, are the services used on the website, who provides them, which cookies they set and for how long, and what information is passed to the service provider. The same cookie list is also shown in the website’s cookie settings.
Necessary cookies
Necessary cookies are required for the basic functions of the website, such as storing your cookie and language choices, protecting forms against spam and processing donations. They cannot be switched off in the cookie settings.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| wt_consent | Liikesivistysrahasto (WebToffee cookie tool) | Stores your cookie choices and a consent identifier. | 1 year |
| wp-wpml_current_language | Liikesivistysrahasto (WPML) | Remembers the language you have chosen. | 1 day |
| wpEmojiSettingsSupports (browser session storage) | Liikesivistysrahasto (WordPress) | Stores whether the browser can display emojis. | Session |
| woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, wp_woocommerce_session_* | Liikesivistysrahasto (WooCommerce) | Keep the donation cart and payment working. Only set when you add a donation to the cart. | Session – 2 days |
| _GRECAPTCHA | Google Ireland Limited (reCAPTCHA) | Protects forms against spam and automated submissions. | 6 months |
Data sharing: Information from the Foundation’s own cookies is not shared with third parties. Google reCAPTCHA passes your IP address, browser and device information and information on how the page is used (such as mouse movements and time spent on the page) to Google, so that Google can assess whether a form is being submitted by a person or an automated program.
Why reCAPTCHA is necessary: Online forms are constantly targeted by automated spam submissions. reCAPTCHA blocks them and thereby protects the information sent through our forms and the operation of the service. It is only loaded on pages that contain a form and is not used for analytics or marketing. According to Google, the information collected by reCAPTCHA is used to improve the service and for general security purposes, not for personalised advertising.
Functional cookies
Functional cookies enable the chat service on the website. We use the tawk.to chat service, through which you can contact the Foundation. The chat is only loaded once you have accepted functional cookies.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| twk_idm_key | tawk.to Inc. | Maintains the chat connection as you move between pages and prevents duplicate connections. | Session |
| TawkConnectionTime | tawk.to Inc. | Keeps the chat window in sync if the website is open in several browser tabs. | Session |
| twk_uuid_* | tawk.to Inc. | Recognises a returning visitor in the chat with a random identifier so that earlier conversations can be linked. | 6 months |
In addition to cookies, tawk.to may use the browser’s local storage to maintain the chat session.
Data sharing: tawk.to receives your IP address, browser and device information, the pages on which the chat is open, and the messages you send in the chat together with any name and email address you provide. tawk.to may also process the information outside the EU.
Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how the website is used, and we use this information to develop the website, its content and the user experience. We use Google Analytics 4, which is only loaded once you have accepted analytics cookies.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Ireland Limited (Google Analytics) | Distinguishes visitors from each other with a random identifier. | 2 years |
| _ga_TZZ6LZE4Z2 | Google Ireland Limited (Google Analytics) | Stores the session state and counts visits. | 2 years |
Data sharing: Google receives a random visitor identifier, information on the pages viewed, where you came to the website from and how you move around it, information on your device, browser and operating system, and your IP address, which is used to infer your approximate location. Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. Google may also process the information outside the EU.
Marketing cookies
Marketing cookies are used to target and measure the Foundation’s marketing on Meta services (Facebook and Instagram). We use Meta Pixel, which is only loaded once you have accepted marketing cookies.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (Meta Pixel) | Identifies the browser so that Meta can target and measure advertising. | 3 months |
Data sharing: Meta receives a browser identifier, information on page views and actions taken on the website, your IP address and browser and device information. If you are logged in to Facebook or Instagram, Meta may link the information to your account. Meta may also process the information outside the EU.
If you accept marketing cookies, Google Analytics may also use Google’s advertising features (Google signals). In that case, Google may link visit information to your Google account if you are logged in to it.
Retention periods
- The duration of each cookie is shown in the tables above. You can delete cookies at any time in your browser settings.
- User-level and event-level data collected in Google Analytics is deleted in line with the service’s retention setting, at the latest after 14 months. Statistics compiled from it do not contain identifiers of individual visitors.
- Website visitor audiences created with Meta Pixel are kept in Meta’s advertising tools for no more than 180 days. Otherwise, Meta keeps information in line with its own privacy policy.
- tawk.to chat conversations are kept for as long as is necessary to handle the enquiry.
- A consent log of your cookie choices (the choices, time, a consent identifier and a partially masked IP address) is stored on the website’s server so that we can demonstrate that consent was given. Log entries are deleted automatically after five years.
Third parties and data transfers
Google, Meta and tawk.to process the information passed to them in line with their own privacy policies. If information is transferred outside the European Union or the European Economic Area, the transfers are based on safeguards required by data protection law, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
- Google (Google Analytics and reCAPTCHA): Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from partner sites
- Meta Platforms (Meta Pixel): Meta Privacy Policy
- tawk.to (chat): tawk.to Privacy Policy
Donation payments are processed by the Paytrail payment service. When you pay, you are taken to Paytrail’s pages, where Paytrail’s own cookie practices apply.
Changing your cookie settings
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time from the cookie icon in the corner of the page, the Cookie settings link at the bottom of the website or the button below. When you withdraw consent, the cookies in that category are deleted from your browser and the service is no longer loaded on the page.
Consent PreferencesYou can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Note, however, that blocking cookies may affect how some functions of the website work.

Change history
- 20 October 2026: Cookie providers, data sharing and retention periods were added to the cookie list. The cookie categories were aligned with the cookie settings. Google Analytics is now loaded only after consent, the Meta Pixel image that worked without JavaScript was removed, the forms’ visitor identifier cookie (_wpfuuid) was disabled and a retention period was set for the consent log. The changes did not add new purposes, so earlier choices are not asked for again. An English version of the cookie policy was published.
