More than 100 years promoting Finland’s success
In 1919 a group of sophisticated and future-oriented businessmen decided to set up the Foundation for Economic Education due to a concern for the future of the Helsinki School of Economics. The deed of foundation was signed in January 1920 when a nationwide fundraising also began. A vast fundraising campaign was run, and the funds accumulated through it made up the initial capital for the Foundation for Economic Education.
For more than a hundred years, the fund has influenced the development of Finnish society by supporting business and economics research and education. At present, the Foundation awards EUR 5.0 million in grants annually across Finland.
In 2010–2011, the Foundation for Economic Education supported capital fundraising for Finnish universities with donations amounting to EUR 25.4 million. Further donations to Finnish universities, totalling EUR 7.5 million, were made in 2016–2017 and 2020–2022. In 2018, the Foundation for Economic Education donated EUR 0.5 million to Finnish universities of applied sciences.
The Foundation’s activities support important research that benefits Finnish business amid the challenges of a changing geopolitical landscape.
