Supervisory Board

At the Annual General Meeting, the members of the Association for the Foundation for Economic Education elect, on the proposal of the Nominations Committee, a Supervisory Board for the Association. The term of office of the Supervisory Board is three calendar years. The Supervisory Board meets twice a year. It comprises no fewer than 36 and no more than 48 members, of whom approximately one third retire annually by rotation (Articles 12 and 13 of the Association’s Rules).

Board

On the proposal of the Nominations Committee, the Supervisory Board elects the Board, which consists of 6 to 10 members of the Association. The term of office of a Board member is three years, with one third of the members retiring annually by rotation. A Board member may be elected for no more than four consecutive terms of office. The Board appoints, for a term of one year at a time, a Grants Committee for the Association, decides on the allocation of grants, and appoints the Managing Director (Articles 7 and 8 of the Association’s Rules).

Grants Committee

The duties of the Grants Committee are to:

  • consider applications relating to grants and awards
  • submit to the Board proposals for decisions on grants, unless the right to make such proposals is otherwise provided for under the special fund regulations
  • prepare for the Board proposals on strategic grant policies, monitor their continued relevance, and, where necessary, propose amendments to those policies

The Board appoints the members of the Grants Committee, as well as its Chair and Vice-Chair. The Grants Committee of the Foundation for Economic Education comprises Jaana Sandström (Chair), Alexander Bargum, Markus Granlund, Hanna-Leena Pesonen (Vice-Chair), Salla Pöyry, and Janne Timonen.
