PODOCO Grant Application Round Is Open from March 1 to April 15, 2026

Are you a recently graduated PhD interested in applying your research expertise in the business world? Does your company have ideas whose analysis and implementation could benefit from the contribution of a young PhD?

Grants from the collaboration program for doctoral researchers and industry, PoDoCo, are open for application from 1 March to 15 April 2026.

The Post Docs in Companies (PoDoCo) program promotes the employment of PhDs in companies and strengthens the long-term renewal capacity of Finnish industry. Within the program, a PhD and a company partner jointly design a research project that opens up new career paths, and funding for the project researcher is applied for from the participating foundations. The project lasts a total of 1–2 years and is divided into two phases of 6–12 months each. The foundations award a working grant for six months or one year for the research phase, which is followed by an applied phase of the same length funded by the company.

The full-year grant amounts to EUR 32,000.

PoDoCo organizes two rounds of applications each year. The PoDoCo program is open to all Finnish companies or companies doing business in Finland and to all people who have recently completed a dissertation or will be defending their dissertation in the near future. There are foundations and funds in the PoDoCo pool are Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation, The Finnish Foundation for Technology Promotion, KAUTE Foundation, Maa- ja Vesitekniikantuki ry and Svenska kulturfonden and The Foundation for Economic Education.
