The Board of the Foundation for Economic Education has on Nov. 25, 2021 granted for 266 projects a total EUR 4,402,900. The grants cover 23.4% of applied sum total EUR 18.78 million.
From the application call for 3-year research groups, 10 research groups received grants, totaling EUR 1.01 million. The groups conduct pioneering research on, e.g. responsible development of the platform economy, capabilities needed for digitalisation, market sustainability, block chains, finance, circular economy, and ethics of gaming.
The distribution of the Fund’s five focus areas is as follows: Future Sustainable Environment (EUR 1.25 million), Business Renewal (EUR 0.84 million), Data Economy (EUR 0.84 million), Entrepreneurship, Scaling and Growth (EUR 0.58 million), and Leadership Competence (EUR 0.57 million).
In the Pooled Funds that complement the focus areas of the Fund, a total of EUR 125,000 to eight projects was targeted from the special funds. The topics of the pools – typically close to a science field or an industry branch – were forestry, bio- and circular economics, and global trade.
In accordance with its rules, the Foundation for Economic Education supports higher economic research and education, at the university level. The aim is especially to promote Finland’s economic growth and the competitiveness of its businesses. Global political, economic and ecological changes are affecting the operation of the non-profit fund, obliging it to an ever more purposeful action. The Business Education Fund is supporting researchers in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
